  1. Ram mandir construction to begin after Sept 17’: Temple trust general secy

Key points:

  1. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s general secretary Champat Rai has said that the construction of the Ram mandir at Ayodhya would begin after September 17 after the fortnight-long ‘pitru paksha’ ends. Pitru Paksh refers to the period when Hindus express gratitude to their ancestors.
  2. The construction company has sourced machines from Mumbai and is in the process of sourcing machines from Hyderabad. To start with, the Trust is expected to engage around 100 labourers to lay the foundation of the temple.

  2. The new National Education Policy has been translated into Gujarati, and a task force is being formed to make a roadmap for Gujarat soon.

  1. Bihar conducts record number of over 1.50 lakh tests in last 24 hours; recovery rate improves to 88 pct

Key points:

  1. Bihar conducted a record number of tests on one lakh 50 thousand 195 of samples for Coronavirus infection during the last 24 hours.
  2. This is the highest number of tests in a day so far.  Over 37 lakh 21 thousand tests have been conducted in the state so far.

  1. COVID-19: Tamil Nadu govt enhances penalties for violation of mandatory safety protocols

Key points:

  1. The TN Government has enhanced penalties for violation of the mandatory safety protocols. It comes in the wake of the opening of almost all economic activities and intra-state travel
  2. The Unlock-4 removes almost all the restrictions in Tamil Nadu to help the public to resume their economic activities. However, it also necessitates ensuring compliance of the safety protocols and the standard operating procedures so that the pandemic situation does not go out of hands.
  3. Keeping this in mind, the penalty for not wearing a mask while coming out has been enhanced to two hundred rupees.
  4. A government order issued yesterday says non-observance of social distancing, spitting in public places and failure to follow guidelines in containment zones by individuals will attract a fine of 500 rupees.
  5. Violations by commercial establishments and entry of vehicles in containment zones will attract a penalty of five thousand rupees. The increased penalty is aimed at ensuring public safety, say the authorities, as lowering the bar on safety precautions would perhaps be self-deceptive.

  • Covid-19 control strategy now shifted from lockdown restrictions to containment management: Tamil Nadu Chief Secy

Key points:

  1. The state Chief Secretary K.Shanmugam has said the government driven testing, isolation and treating strategy in Covid-19 management is being replaced by the same initiatives driven by the public.
  2. In his letter to the district collectors he has emphasised that providing adequate facilities for testing and treatment both in private and government facilities should be the focus.
  3. He has asked them to be prepared to relocate Covid Care Centres from colleges to other places, as they are likely to be reopened in future.
  4. It is also stressed that close monitoring of biomedical waste disposal is important.
  5. Special teams are asked to be formed to monitor if safety measures are followed in offices and workplaces properly.
  6. The Chief Secretary has also asked the civic bodies and the police to enforce strict discipline saying the next two to three months are very critical in Covid-19 management as vaccines are not available yet.

  1. ICMR issues new guidelines allowing testing on demand for COVID-19

Key points:

  1. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has issued a new advisory on Covid-19 testing strategy, allowing testing on demand for individuals.
  2. It has also advised testing on demand for all individuals undertaking travel to countries or Indian states mandating a negative Covid-19 test at the point of entry.
  3. It said the state governments can simplify the modalities to facilitate testing on demand. The ‘Advisory on Strategy for Covid-19 Testing in India’ (version -6) said, it may be modified as per discretion of State Health authorities.

  • Centre asks Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to take rigorous measures to break COVID transmission chain

Key points:

  1. The Centre today exhorted the States of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to focus on undertaking aggressive measures to break the chain of transmission and to ensure that the mortality is kept below 1 per cent.
  2. They have been advised to proactively ensure higher testing, effective clinical management to lower fatality and save lives along with efficient monitoring at various levels.
  3. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka account for about 46 per cent of the active cases and nearly 52 percent of the fatality cases reported nationally in the last 24 hours.
  4. The Union Home Ministry also highlighted the districts of concern in each of these states. Of the total deaths in the country due to COVID-19, 70 per cent are recorded in just five States of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh.

  1. ICMR issues new guidelines allowing testing on demand for COVID-19

Key points:

  1. District In-Charge Minister S T Somashekar has instructed the Mysuru city officials to be more vigilant to bring down the virus cases in the city, which has been the second most affected city after Bengaluru.
  2. Speaking at the review meeting here, he said that there was complaint on the cleanliness of the hospitals.
  3. More cautions on those who have taking home isolations and there should not be any complaint about the treatments of these patients. All private hospitals should abide by the government guidelines only and no patient should not be denied the beds, if they violated it, actions should be taken against them, he said.

  1. Punjab govt to give free food packets for poor families in home isolation

Key points:

  1. The Chief Minister said the distribution of free food packets would help encourage poor families to go for early testing, which was imperative to check the spread of the pandemic and control the increasing fatality rate in Punjab.
  2. The programme will start from Patiala, one of the worst affected districts with widespread false propaganda, the Chief Minister said and directed other districts to make similar arrangements for distribution of free food packets to poor Covid patients in home isolation so that they get motivated to come out for testing and do not live in fear of losing their earnings during isolation.

  1. Medical advice to patients for home isolation at Rs 2500 in Chhattisgarh

Key points:

  1. The Asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment in home isolation will be provided medical advice through video calls or tele-advice at Rs 2500 for ten days in Chhattisgarh.
  2. Asymptomatic COVID-19 patients and those having mild symptoms of this disease in the state are willing to undergo treatment while being at home isolation.
  3. After discussion with health department at the meeting, the IMA representatives have agreed to provide medical advice through video call or tele-advice at Rs 2500 for ten days.
  4. They said that it would be compulsory for the doctors and patients to follow guidelines issued time to time over home isolation by ICMR and health and family welfare department of the state government.

  • दुनिया में कोविड-19 की 176 वैक्सीन रेस में, जानेंक्या है भारत की स्थिति

  1. भारत बायोटेक और जाइडस कैडिला के वैक्सीन क्लीनिकल ट्रायल के दूसरे चरण में पहुंच चुके है। भारत बायोटेक ने इस वैक्सीन को भारतीय आर्युिवज्ञान अनुसंधान परिषद (आइसीएमआर) और नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ वायरोलॉजी के साथ मिलकर विकसित करने में जुटा है। इसे कोवाक्सिन का नाम दिया गया है।
  2. जाइडस कैडिला के वैक्सीन जायकोव-डी के पहले चरण का ट्रायल सफल रहा था, जिसके बाद इसके दूसरे चरण का ट्रायल किया जा रहा है। पहले चरण के ट्रायल में जिन लोगों को इसकी खुराक दी गई, उन पर इसका कोई नकारात्मक असर देखने को नहीं मिला है।
  3. ऑक्सफोर्ड की वैक्सीन को विकसित करने में भारत के सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट भी महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दे रहा है। महाराष्ट्र सहित देश के कई अन्य हिस्सों में इसका ट्रायल किया जा रहा है।

  1. बिजली वितरक कंपनी को घाटे से उबारने के साथ ही खुद आत्मनिर्भर बनी ओडिशा की बिजली दीदी रोजाना सुबह 10 बजे निकल जाती है बिजली बिल वसूलने।
  2. सन् 2019 में ओडिशा सरकारी की योजना सेल्फ हेल्प ग्रुप अर्थात स्वयं सहायक ग्रुप की भर्ती निकली और उसमें परीक्षा दी तो वहां उनका चयन हो गया। इसके बाद वह बिजली वितरक कंपनी सेंट्रल इलेक्ट्रिक सिटी सप्लाई यूटिलिटी आफ ओडिशा अर्थात सेसु के साथ जुड़ गई और अपनी मेहनत एवं लगन से न सिर्फ आत्मनिर्भर बनी बल्कि बिजली वितरक कंपनी के राजस्व को भी बढ़ाने का काम किया।  लोग अब जागरूक हो गए हैं और घर जाते ही मीटर रीडिंग मिल जाती है और लोग बिजली बिल का भुगतान कर देते हैं।
  3. प्रदेश में ऐसी लगभग 200 बिजली दीदी हैं, जिन्होंने अपनी मेहनत व लगन से न केवल आत्मनिर्भर बनी हैं, बल्कि बिजली वितरक कंपनी के राजस्व को बढ़ाने का काम किया है। सबसे खास बात यह है कि इस कार्य में बिजली दीदियों को शुरूआत में स्थानीय लोगों से कुछ परेशानी जरूर आयी मगर अब स्थानीय लोग भी खुश है कि उनके उपर बिजली बिल नहीं बकाया है, और बिजली वितरक कंपनी का भी राजस्व बढ़ गया है।

How this Hyderabad startup went from skilling youths to delivering e-learning to schools

After quitting Motorola in 2008, Ananth set up Focus Ventures, which backed Hyderabad-based SkillPro, a social enterprise that aims to skill one million underprivileged youth. He took over as the chairman of SkillPro in 2013.  Soon after, as the Skill India Mission took off, SkillPro transitioned from offline skill training to an e-learning solution. In eight years, it has impacted over 300,000 youth across rural and urban areas and placed them in jobs. But, there was a pain point.

Hyderabad startup SkillPro launched mPowerO to tap into the rising demand for e-learning solutions and learning management systems during the pandemic.

With the lockdown on educational institutions unlikely to get over anytime soon, the thrust on e-learning and online classrooms is at an all-time high. SkillPro rolled out mPowerO in May to tap into this lockdown-induced market demand.

MemeChat: An app that helps meme creators get paid by brands for their creativity
Key points:

Started by two 22-year-olds, MemeChat is a space for creators, users and social media influencers to cash in on the meme-making phenomenon and was one of the winners of AatmaNirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge.

The duo from SRM University graduated in Computer Science in 2020 and have been developers since the age of 15. They met each other when they were studying in Delhi Public School (Gurugram), and bonded over their mutual interest in software and technology.

The users can create memes using paid templates, and get paid upon their approval. As another option, users can earn making memes in the requested category and get paid by brands.

Currently, MemeChat has a total of 11 full-time employees and 15 part-time employees. Their app has a total of 650,000 users, with over 130,000 monthly active users and is available on both Android and iOS devices.

  1. राजेश ने बताया कि कई सालों तक बाहर काम करने के बाद वह अपने गाँव लौट आए क्योंकि उनकी वह अपने इलाके के लिए कुछ अलग करना चाहते थे।
  2. उन्होंने धीरे-धीरे महिलाओं का समूह बनाया और सभी को आश्वासन दिया कि वह उनसे बाजार भाव में सीताफल हर दिन खरीदेंगे। साल 2017 में राजेश ने जोवाकी एग्रोफ़ूड इंडिया की नींव रखी और इसे कोई कमर्शियल कंपनी बनाने की बजाय सोशल एंटरप्राइज बनाया। इसके अंतर्गत उन्होंने 12 गाँव की महिलाओं का समूह बनाया और उन्हें कई चरणों में ट्रेनिंग दी गई।
  3. जोवाकी एग्रोफ़ूड को भारत सरकार के सोशल स्टार्टअप प्रोग्राम, रफ़्तार में भी जगह मिली है। इसके अलावा, उन्हें IIM कोलकाता, विल्ग्रो फाउंडेशन, नियम एग्री बिज़नेस आदि से भी सपोर्ट मिल रहा है। कंपनी फ़िलहाल सीताफल और जामुन के अलावा हरे चने और आंवला पर काम कर रही है।
  4. उन्होंने लगभग 500 किसानों को जैविक खेती से जोड़ा है और महिलाओं को औषधीय खेती की ट्रेनिंग भी दिलाई है। राजेश कहते हैं कि उनका उद्देश्य लोगों को उनके पास उपलब्ध फलों और सब्जियों में वैल्यू एडिशन करके रोज़गार कमाने का ज़रिया देना है।
