Hyderabad: 2 burqa-clad women held for vandalising Goddess Durga idol in Navratri Pandal

Two Muslim women were detained on Tuesday for reportedly vandalising the idol of goddess Durga at a Navratri pandal in Hyderabad. The ladies barged into a pandal in the city’s Khairatabad locality and smashed a portion of the Durga statue, according to Hyderabad Police.

When a local tried to stop her, one of the ladies attacked him with a metallic tool. Locals apprehended both ladies and handed them over to the police.

DCP, Central Zone, Hyderabad, said, “In the morning we received a call that two ladies have tried to vandalize the mother Mary statue and later they also tried to vandalize the statue of Goddess Durga.” “One woman was also seen carrying a spanner and she tried to attack a local who tried to stop. However, locals caught both of them and handed them over to Saidabad police. We are trying to verify their details but they are behaving very weirdly. An investigation is underway,” the DCP further added.

The ladies also vandalised a statue of Mother Mary outside a nearby church, according to News 18. Damage to the idols and the lion sculptures adjacent to the idol was also visible in pictures from the site. The authorities are now trying to figure out who the women are and what motivated them to do this. There are no additional specifics concerning the event because the accused are not even disclosing their identities. Police are investigating if the crime was carried out with the intent of inflaming communal tensions in the area.

OpIndia recently reported how ahead of Durga Puja, unknown vandals smashed Durga idols at the Kashipur Sarbajanin Durga Temple in Mehendiganj Upazila in Barisal, Bangladesh. The leaders of Mehendiganj Puja Udjapon Parishad strongly condemned the incident and asked that those responsible face legal punishments. Nurunnabi, the Mehendiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), visited the site and gave orders to restore the temple so that it could be used for worship.

On September 8, Taufeeq Ahmed was arrested for allegedly damaging an idol of a deity at a Hindu temple in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. With a “tilak” on his forehead, Ahmed allegedly entered the temple gates and started smashing the idol of the deity while yelling “Jai Shri Ram.”

IS module busted during NIA raids in Hyderabad

While conducting several raids in Hyderbad, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) discovered what is alleged to be an ISIS cell. At least 11 people have been taken into custody for the same.

A total of 11 suspects have been detained for questioning from 10 raids in the old quarters of the IT-city. NIA IG Sanjeev Kumar told ANI over telephone that the agency has conducted searches at around 10 locations in the city.

As per reports, a module linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) was busted during the raids. Firearms, ammunition and currency have also been seized from them.

The suspected ISIS members were allegedly planning to carry out terror strikes in India and were in touch with handlers in Syria for the same.

“We are not sure who these people (suspects) are and the groups they are affiliated with,” the sources added. The detained are being interrogated.

Thanks to the initiative taken by a bold advocate and the social media groups, the mainstream media was forced to take up the issue of the rabid hate mongering tha Mr.Akbaruddin Owaisi who is a MIM MLA ,floor leader in the AP Legislative Assembly. Mr.Akbar is not new to this spewing of venom and he has done it on numerous occasions in the past. In some of our earlier posts we had questioned the MIM’s actions and exposed how they manufacture riots in the city of Hyderabad.

The idea, it seems is to spread their network outside Hyderabad now and go pan-India. His brother who is also a MP and is a frequent panelist in NDTV and other English channels, has not condemned the comments which also implicitly show that he is in support of what Akbaruddin said.

Ten Key Objectionable Points made by Akbaruddin Owaisi against the country and Hindus during a public program at Nirmal, Adilabad district, Andhra Pradesh – Dec 24th 2012.

1. Insulting Temples :

He says ” In Hindustan, we (Muslims) ruled for 1000 years and we left our symbols. Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Agra Fort, Qutub Minar, Charminar, Golkonda and hundreds of other symbols. The world comes to Hindustan to see our symbols. The people from the world do not come to see Ram and Krishna Mandirs” .

2. Claiming that Indian Muslims have the legacy of the invaders. He says”When we ruled for 1000 years, we were not even 1 crore, now we are 25 crores Why are we silent now ? .Every Pandit and Pujari used to offer salaam ( salute) to us. The 4 minars of Charminar show that the East-West-North-South were dominated by us” .

3. Justifying Terror attacks :

He Says ” Terror attacks happened, bomb blasts happened – they were wrong. But Oh Hindustan if you had not allowed destruction of Babri Masjid, then the bomb blasts at Mumbai would also not have happened. Every action has a reaction. I am only for Muslims. We will think about secularism only after Babri masjid is rebuilt. “

He says ” Ajmal Kasab was hanged. I dont want to go into a debate on his hanging. Why was he hanged ? He came from Pak came into India, killed 200 civilians and he was hanged. In Gujarat, the person who killed 2000 Muslims – no case has been filed against him. If there is any law in this country, then the way you have hanged Kasab, you must hang Modi. This Muslim of Andhra gives a call that if muslims unite then Modi will also be hanged.”

5. Justifying Bangladeshi Infiltration into Assam : He says ” In Assam, the riots happened using AK-47 on Muslims. You say they are Bangladeshi. If the Muslims are Bangladeshi, who are you Advani ? You ran away and came to India. We Muslims of this country did not run away anywhere. “

6. Insulting Hindu customs : He says “This country was ours and will remain ours.” ( he stated earlier that the country was ruled by Babar, Shah Jahan & Aurangzeb and they are their followers). He says further ” If in case we go, we will take Taj, Qutub Minar, Red fort. What will be left ? The dilapated Ram Mandir of Ayodhya, the nude paintings of Ajanta-Ellora ! What else be left ? When we die, we are buried because we have love for the land. When you die, you are cremated and mix with the nature like vagabonds.”

7.Threatening a democratically elected CM : He says “There are many such Modis who have come and gone. Modi, come to Hyderabad once and we will show you. Tasleema Nasreen came, no one knows where she is. She ran away. The same will happen to Modi.”

8. Encouraging Violence and Call To Muslims to Kill Hindus – He says” Hindustan – We are 25 crores, you are 100 crores. 9. Insulting National Heroes & Hindu sentiments- He says “In Ayodhya , there are 3 mandirs where people claim that Ram was born here. In Haryana, Kaushalyapuram there are places where people say Ram was born here. Oh Vajpayee, Oh Advani, tell us where all did Ram’s mother go. They say Ram was born 15 Lakhs years ago. How do they know what happened so many lakhs of years when we are unable to track even 200 years of history ?”

He further says ” There are many pujas that they( Hindus) do. Rama, Lakshman, Durga..how many more. I knew Lakshmi but who is Bhagyalakshmi ? What sort of names are these ? I dont want to spoil the atmopshere of this pious program by taking this manhoos(ill-fated) names – ( names of Hindu gods and goddesses) ” !

10. Reg cow slaughter– He says ” If only they ( Hindus) also eat the beef, they will realise how tasty it is. We are eating it and we love it. We will not compromise ” .

Updates : The media had ignored the issue. But due to the pressure by social media, the police and electronic media was forced to take up the issue.

Update on 8th Jan 2013 : Owaisi returns from UK. He had gone to London after his speech. He indicated that he was unwell and should not be arrested. He went through the check-up at Gandhi hospital, found fit and arrested.

The danger is that NDTV asks him what he feels about BJP’s statement on Akbaruddin instead of insisting on asking what the nation feels. The speech is not just about hate-speech but against sedition against Bharat.

“J&K interlocutors’ report that is biased, against the constitution and designed to gradually disintegrate Kashmir from Bharath must be refuted, rejected and thrown into dustbin in its entirety” said B. Narasimha Murthy of Jammu Kashmir Parirakshana Samithi (JKPS).

Speaking on the occasion of a huge human chain formed in the city of Hyderabad to protest the J&K Interlocutors’ report , he said the recommendations made by the committee speak the language of separatists. “Article 370 has been a major hindrance in solving the present problem yet the committee suggested making Article 370 a “special provision” from the existing “temporary status”, thus complicating the problem further. The committee mischievously tried to play around the semantics by repeatedly terming Pak Occupied Kashmir (POK) as Pakistan Administered Area, calling Kashmir as a “bridge” between India and central Asia instead of asserting Kashmir as an integral part of Bharath, and advocating the re-enforcement of previous nomenclature of Chief Minister and Governor in Urdu which would eventually mean Wazir –e-Azam and Sadr-e-Riyasat . All these dirty tricks are played to alienate Kashmir from Bharath” he said. He further questioned the very validity of the committee of which two members are directly connected to and enjoyed the hospitality of an ISI agent , Ghulam Nabi Fai, for over a decade now.

The program was organized by JKPS on 25^th July during the busy working hours on a working day through one of the busiest routes of Hyderbad city, i.e. from Musarambagh to LB Nagar. More than 5000 people actively participated in the human chain formation and the chain uninterruptedly stretched for almost five kilometers. Despite such a huge gathering at such a busy route, the traffic was not disrupted at all because of the chain.

Other highlights of the prgramme were:

Huge groups of college students were seen voluntarily joining the human chain.
The entire stretch was filled tricolor flags with slogans echoing “Bharath Mata Ki jai”
People from all sections took part in the programme.
