  1. Assam: Over 1500 beds to be added for Covid-19 patients

  1. Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed today that 3 new Covid Care Centres will be functional very soon in the state. He said that a 850 bed Covid care centre will be functional at Nehru stadium in Guwahati while another centre with 704 beds will be operationalised at Mirza .
  2. The Minister further said that the third such centre will be functional with 40 beds facilities at Guwahati for women and children.

  1. COVID-19: Delhi Govt to set up ‘Oxygen Jaanch Kendra’ in 30,000 villages

Key points:

  1. The Delhi Government will now set up ‘Oxygen Jaanch Kendra’ in 30,000 villages to combat COVID-19 and the village youth will be trained and provided with the oxymeters to set up these Kendras, said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday.
  2. Taking to Twitter, CM Kejriwal wrote, “Already received commitments for 30,000 oxymeters. I am overwhelmed. Will now set up “oxygen jaanch kendra” in 30,000 villages. Commitments still pouring in. Will help set it up in more villages. Thank you, donors. We will train village youth and give them oxymeters to set up oxygen kendras.”
  3. “This will help us in saving lives by detecting a drop in oxygen levels in time,” he added.
  4. Earlier on Saturday, CM Kejriwal requested people to donate oximeters to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) so that it can be provided to the villages.

  1. RT-PCR lab opens in Ghaziabad, to screen 96 samples daily

Key points:

  1. Minister of state for health Atul Garg on Saturday inaugurated the much-awaited RT-PCR lab in Ghaziabad. Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 76 lakh, it will be able to screen 96 samples at a time, the results of which will be available in three hours. The ealth department has plans to screen 300 samples daily.
  2. While inaugurating the facility, Garg said, “The laboratory will not only boost testing in the district but people from neighbouring districts can also avail the facilities. It has all modern equipment and will increase the number of testing.”
  3. To step up testing in the district, UP principal secretary (health) Amit Mohan Prasad had visited Ghaziabad on July 22 and instructed to start a RT-PCR laboratory. The state government had instructed to carry out 1,000 antigen tests and 350 RT-PCR tests daily but in the absence of laboratories, reaching the target was not possible.

  1. Puducherry govt fixes Covid-19 treatment cost in private hospitals

Key points:

  1. The Puducherry government has fixed the cost of treatment for Covid-19 positive patients in private medical colleges and hospitals and private institutions.
  2. The government fixed the cost of non-critical care Covid-19 treatment at Rs 3,250 per day. It has fixed the cost of critical care Covid-19 treatment in intensive care unit (ICU) without a ventilator or non-invasive ventilation (NIV) at Rs 5,480 per day, with NIV at Rs 5,980 per day and with a ventilator at Rs 9,580 per day.
  3. The cost of treatment in ICU for sepsis care without a ventilator is fixed at Rs 6,280 per day, for sepsis treatment with a ventilator at Rs 10,380 per day and for treatment for septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) with a ventilator at Rs 10,380 per day.
  4. The costs are inclusive of isolation ward/ICU rent, administrative charges, nursing, monitoring and maintenance charges, basic interventions, consultation charges, drugs and investigations, oxygen and nebulization charges, cost of personal protective equipment kit per day, nutritious diet and disinfection cost per person per day among others.
  5. However, private institutions cannot charge patients referred by the government for treatment. The institutions must treat them free of cost.
  6. The government has also fixed the cost of tests like reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), cartridge-based nucleic acid amplification test (CB-NAAT) and TRUENAT (a chip-based, battery-operated RT-PCR kit) at Rs 2,400.

  1. मानसून सत्र की तैयारियां तेज:सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग, हवा में वायरस को मारने वाली मशीन, लार्ज डिस्प्ले स्क्रीन का इस्तेमाल होगा; राज्यसभालोकसभा के सत्र सुबहशाम को कराने पर विचार

Key points:

  1. लगातार राज्यसभा सचिवालय के मुताबिक, सत्र के दौरान अपर हाउस के मेंबर दोनों चेंबर और गैलेरीज में बैठेंगे। 1952 के बाद से भारतीय संसद के इतिहास में ऐसा पहली बार होगा, जब इस तरह की व्यवस्था की जा रही है, जिसके तहत 60 मेंबर राज्यसभा के चेंबर और 51 मेंबर गैलरी में बैठेंगे। बाकी 132 मेंबर्स को लोकसभा के चेंबर में बैठाया जाएगा।
  2. पहली बार लार्ज डिस्प्ले स्क्रीन, कंसोल्स, अल्ट्रावॉयलेट जर्मिसिडल इर्रेडिएशन सिस्टम, दोनों सदनों के बीच स्पेशल केबल और पॉलीकॉर्बोनेट सेपरेटर का इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा है।
  3. सदन की कार्यवाही में सभी भागीदारी तय करने के लिए गैलेरी की सीट्स को कंसोल्स के साथ फिट किया जा रहा है। प्ले-कार्ड्स राज्यसभा की गैलेरी में पार्टियों को इंडीकेट करेंगे।
  4. दोनों सदनों को जोड़ने के लिए स्पेशल केबल का इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा, जिससे कार्यवाही के ऑडियो-विजुअल बिना देरी के दोनों हाउस के बैठे मेंबर्स तक पहुंचे। स्पेशल केबल से मेंबर्स के रियल टाइम पार्टिसिपेशन में मदद मिलेगी।
  5. राज्यसभा सचिवालय ने बताया कि राज्यसभा की ऑफिशियल्स गैलेरी को चेंबर से अलग करने के लिए पॉलीकार्बोनेट शीट्स का इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा।
  6. एयर कंडिशनिंग सिस्टम में अल्ट्रावॉइलेट जर्मिसिडल इर्रेडिएशन सिस्टम का इस्तेमाल पर भी विचार किया जा रहा है, जिससे एयर सप्लाई में बैक्टीरिया और वायरस को खतम किया जा सके।
  7. ऑफिशियल गैलरी और प्रेस गैलरी में भी सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग नॉर्म्स का पालन किया जाएगा। इनमें 15 लोगों को बैठाया जाएगा।
  8. अधिकारियों ने बताया कि सीमित संख्या में सचिवालय के अधिकारियों को सदन के टेबल पर बैठाया जाएगा और रिपोर्टर्स (सदन की कार्यवाही के वर्बेटिम नोट लेने के लिए) को फॉरेन डिगनिटेरीज के बनाए गए स्पेशल बॉक्स में बैठाया जाएगा।

  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday urged Indians to work towards a ‘Atmanirbhar’ Bharat or self-reliant India, and said the country should strive towards bringing down its import bill and consume more locally manufactured products.
  2. Reiterating his call for India to ‘Make for the world’ in his Independence Day speech, Modi said the slew of reforms and legal changes initiated by India over the last few years is seeing many global firms look to India to invest and set up their manufacturing units.
  3. “We need to become self reliant to contribute more to the world … We need to increase value addition in the country,” the Prime Minister said from the ramparts of Red Fort.
  4. Many measures towards meeting the government’s aim of a self-reliant India were announced as part of the Rs 21 lakh crore economic package announced in May.

Planning of Central Government to Manufacture in Bharat

  1. Modi pins hopes on Rs 110 lakh crore National Infra Pipeline to ease Covid hit on economy

Key points:

  1. The government has already identified about 7,000 projects in different sectors that will be part of the NIP, the PM added as he made his Independence Day address at the Red Fort. 
  2. “There is a need to give a new direction to the overall infrastructure development of the country. This need will be met from the National Infrastructure Pipeline project. The country is going to spend more than Rs 100 lakh crore on this,” the PM added.
  3. While around 18-20 per cent of the pipeline is expected to be financed through the central government budget, around 24-26 per cent is to be contributed by state coffers. 
  4. A finance ministry taskforce recommended this April that 31 per cent of the required resources be raised through debt from bond markets, banks and NBFCs (non-banking financial corporations), and around 4-10 per cent as equity from private developers, aid agencies, and internal accruals.

  1. FPIs invest ₹28,203 cr in Aug so far; turn net investor in debt after 5 months

Key points:

  1. Foreign portfolio investors (FPI) remained net investors in Indian markets in the first half of August, pumping in ₹28,203 crore in debt and equities on net basis in the period, according to the depositories data.
  2. FPIs turned net investors in the debt segment in August after a gap of five months.
  3. Depositories data showed that a net sum of ₹26,147 crore was invested in equities and ₹2,056 crore in the debt segment by FPIs between Aug 3-14. This translated into a total net investment of ₹28,203 crore.
  4. FPIs have been net buyers for two consecutive months prior to this. They invested ₹3,301 crore in July and  ₹24,053 crore in June on net basis.

Key points:

Founded in 2017 by Sandeep Shah along with Anil Yekkala, Dharin Shah, Kuldeep Saxena, and Purvi Shah, Optimized Electrotech aims to solve surveillance-related challenges with its long-distance imaging systems.

The make-in-India electro-optics surveillance startup aims to serve the defence, paramilitary forces, aerospace, airports, critical assets, and other industries, along with a huge export market.

The startup’s first line of products, the InfiVision series, works on VIS+NIR wavelength and has been designed to detect a tank in more than 30km range.

The startup received its first VC investment from GVFL and a fund grant of Rs 1.5 crore from the Indian government as the winner of the iDEX challenge.

  1. Post the violent June 15 Galwan Valley clashes, India has shown the confidence of standing solo against China in any future border dispute despite the United States’ offer of forming a Quad alliance against Beijing, a European-based think tank said.
  2. “In the initial phase of disengagement at Pangong Tso, the Chinese moved back from Finger 4 to Finger 5, but continued with their deployment on the ridge line. India is insisting that China move back from Finger 5 to its old position on the Finger 8 spur. In the face of repeated demands by the Chinese negotiators that India move its troops back from the forward areas, India has refused to consider any de-escalation until the disengagement process through the withdrawal of Chinese intrusions is complete,” the European Foundation for South Asian Studies (EFSAS) said in its commentary.

  1. भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच जल बंटवारे को लेकर चल रहे विवाद में विश्व बैंक न तो अंतरराष्ट्रीय न्यायालय में जाएगा और न ही किसी स्वतंत्र पर्यवेक्षक को नियुक्त कर उससे रिपोर्ट लेगा। यह विवाद दोनों देशों को ही मिलकर निपटाना होगा। विश्व बैंक का यह रुख पाकिस्तान को झटका देने वाला माना जा रहा है। दोनों देशों के बीच हुई जल बंटवारा संधि में विश्व बैंक भी एक पक्ष है।
  2. भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच नौ साल चली वार्ता के बाद 1960 में जल समझौता हुआ था। विश्व बैंक ने तीसरे पक्ष के रूप में समझौता पत्र पर दस्तखत किए थे। समझौते के अनुसार, दोनों देशों को हिमालय से निकलकर भारत होते हुए पाकिस्तान में बहने वाली नदियों के जल के संबंध में सूचनाओं का लेन-देन करना था और पानी के इस्तेमाल पर सहयोग का तंत्र बनाना था।
  3.  देशों ने दशकों तक ऐसा किया, लेकिन हाल के वर्षो में दोनों देशों में बनने वाले बांधों को लेकर विवाद की स्थिति बन गई। पाकिस्तान में पांच साल का कार्यकाल पूरा करने वाले विश्व बैंक के निदेशक पचमुथु इलनगोवन डॉन ने अखबार से साक्षात्कार में कहा, भारत और पाकिस्तान को साथ बैठक विकल्पों पर बात करनी चाहिए और मतभेदों का समाधान निकालना चाहिए।

    1) सीरम कंपनी कोरोना वैक्सीन की 10 करोड़ खुराक तैयार कर रही है।
    2) सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडिया (SII) ने शुक्रवार को कहा कि बिल एंड मेलिंडा गेट्स फाउंडेशन और
    गावी(Gavi) के साथ बड़ी साझेदारी हुई है। गावी(Gavi) का उद्देश्य पब्लिक प्राइवेट ग्लोबल हेल्थ

    3) दूसरी सरकारी कमिटी का नेतृत्‍व नीति आयोग के सदस्‍य डॉ वीके पॉल कर रहे हैं। इस कमिटी का काम है वक्‍सीन को लोगों तक पहुंचाना।
    4) रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, सरकार किसी विदेशी वैक्‍सीन निर्माता कंपनी के सीधे संपर्क में नहीं है।

  2. सुनीता अपनी माँ बीलो देवी के साथ समूह से कर्ज लेकर झारखंड हॉर्टिकल्चर माइक्रो ड्रिप इरीगेशन प्रोजेक्ट के तहत  0.25 एकड़ जमीन पर ड्रिप लगाने का काम शुरू किया।
  3. सुनीता बताती हैं, “टपक सिंचाई से पहली बार फूलगोभी की खेती की और करीब 1 लाख की बिक्री हुई जिसमें करीब 75 हजार शुद्ध मुनाफा हुआ। कुछ ही महीनों में इतनी कमाई देखकर मेरी मां बीलो ने भी माइक्रो ड्रिप इरिगेशन परियोजना से जुड़कर और 0.25 एकड़ में टपक सिंचाई से खेती करवानी शुरू की। आज हम सालाना 4 से 5 लाख रुपये कमा लेते हैं।”

  1. नमकवाली, लगभग 10-11 महिलाओं का समूह है, जो पहाड़ों के सदियों से बनते आ रहे तरह-तरह के पहाड़ी नमक तैयार करती हैं, जिन्हें ‘पिस्यु लूण’ यानी कि पहाड़ों का नमक कहा जाता है। 
  2. इस नमक को वह ऑनलाइन मार्केटिंग और कूरियर के माध्यम से देश के अलग-अलग शहरों तक पहुंचाती हैं।
  3. उनका नमक उत्तराखंड के कई शहरों के साथ-साथ दिल्ली, मुंबई, चेन्नई और अन्य मेट्रो शहरों में जाता है। लोग 100 ग्राम से लेकर 10 किलो तक भी आर्डर करते हैं। हर महीने वो लगभग 35 किलोग्राम नमक बेचतीं हैं।

  1. अमिताभ कांत ने कहा कि उदार एफडीआई नीति की बदौलत हमने भारी विदेशी निवेश को आकर्षित किया है।
  2. उन्होंने कहा कि कोरोनावायरस महामारी के दौरान हमें 22 बिलियन डॉलर करीब 1.6 लाख करोड़ रुपए से ज्यादा का विदेशी निवेश मिला है। 
  3. इसमें से करीब 98 फीसदी विदेशी निवेश आटोमैटिक रूट के माध्यम से आया है।
  4. उन्होंने कहा कि विश्व बैंक की ईज ऑफ डूइंग बिजनेस लिस्ट में भारत ने करीब 79 स्थानों की छलांग लगाई है। उन्होंने उम्मीद जताई कि इस लिस्ट में भारत इस साल टॉप-50 में आ जाएगा और अगले साल हमने टॉप-3 में स्थान बना लेंगे।

PepsiCo to increase investment in UP from Rs 500 crore to Rs 800 crore

  1. PepsiCo India has decided to increase its investment from Rs 500 crore to Rs 800 crore in Uttar Pradesh.
  2. This would provide direct and indirect employment to over 1500 people in the state.
  3. PepsiCo has also decided to procure 118,000 tones potato from the farmers of Mathura and Kosi region. This would help in increasing the income of the farmers.
  4. He said the trade between UP and US is around $2.74 billion, which is mainly of textile, woodcraft, carpet, iron & steel items. Recently the US companies’s have shown interest in investing in the electronics and electrical sector at Noida and Greater Noida.

  1. PM Modi calls for increased COVID-19 testing & contact tracing in states with high case load

Key points:

  1. PM has stressed on the need to increase testing in states where testing rate is low and positive rate is high, particularly in Bihar, Gujarat, UP, West Bengal and Telangana.
  2. He was interacting with the CMs of 10 states through video conferencing today.
  3. Prime Minister said with the collective efforts, India will win the fight against covid-19.
  4. He said, the most important thing is that people’s confidence has also increased, and the fear has gone down.
  5. The PM said Contact tracing, containment and surveillance are the most effective weapons against COVID 19.
  6. He said experts are now saying that if cases are identified within 72 hours of onset, infection slows down to a great extent.
  7. He said that besides the testing network, Aarogya Setu App also helps in contact tracing, containment and surveillance.
  8. He interacted with the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, Bihar, Gujarat, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.

  1. UP CM Yogi Adityanath directs officials to increase Covid beds of L2 & L3 category in 6 cities

Key points:

  1. He also directed for effective contact tracing and door to door survey along with improvement in surveillance to curb the spread of corona virus.
  2. AIR correspondent reports, special directions have been given to increase the number of Covid beds in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Bareilly, Gorakhpur Varanasi and Kanpur districts.
  3. Chief Minister also directed officials to complete the construction work of special Covid hospital in KGMU Lucknow as early as possible and start its functioning by the end of this month.
  4. This under-construction Hospital has dedicated 319 beds for Covid treatment.
  5. After completion of the work it will become the second largest Covid dedicated hospital in state after the recently inaugurated Covid special hospital in Gautam Buddh Nagar Noida.

  • UP govt decides to appoint Special Secretary rank officers for health services management

  1. In Uttar Pradesh, the State Government has decided to appoint Special Secretary rank officers to assist District Magistrates in seven districts. These officers will help District Magistrates in better management of health services and to stop the spread the Corona virus pandemic. Government will also increase number of COVID beds in state.
  2. AIR correspondent reports that special Secretary rank officers will be appointed in Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Bahraich and Bareilly. These are the districts where Corona infection is on rise. These seven districts have almost half of the total COVID patients in state with capital Lucknow having highest number of cases in state.

  1. J&K UT Chief Secretary chairs meeting on efforts towards mitigating COVID-19 pandemic

Key points:

  1. In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Secretary, B V R Subrahmanyam today chaired a meeting to take stock of the efforts towards mitigating COVID-19 pandemic and review the related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
  2. Chief Secretary complimented the divisional administration of Jammu province for effectively implementing hospital referral policy to ensure optimal utilization of resources, wherein the tertiary hospitals would only admit critical COVID patients referred from district hospitals.
  3. Directions were issued for daily monitoring of COVID admissions, testing, discharges and bed occupancy across the COVID care institutions.
  4. Chief Secretary underscored the importance of aggressive testing for early medical intervention and asked the concerned to work out a ‘Red Zone testing strategy’ focusing on vulnerable patients including children, old aged, pregnant ladies, patients with Influenza like Illness (ILI), Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI), co-morbid conditions, service providers, drivers and healthcare professionals.
  5. He said that the Rapid Antigen Test in addition to RTPCR can be used for cleansing and securing a red/containment zone by testing all probable contacts of patients and vulnerable population in the area.

  1. प्रशासन की सख्ती:कॉम्पलेक्स में भीड़, मास्क भी नहीं पहने थे लोग, मनपा ने कॉम्प्लेक्स बंद करवाकर 120 दुकानें कर दीं सील

  1. गुजरात में कोरोना के मामले लगातार बढ़ते जा रहे हैं।
  2. इसके चलते 11 अगस्त से मास्क न पहनने पर जुर्माना 1000 रुपए भी कर दिया गया है। बावजूद इसके लोग लापरवाही से बाज नहीं आ रहे हैं।
  3. कुछ ऐसा ही नजारा अहमदाबाद के मूर्तमंत कॉम्प्लेक्स में भी नजर आया।
  4. यहां भारी भीड़ के बावजूद लोग मास्क नहीं पहने थे।
  5. इसके चलते म्युनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन ने सख्त कार्रवाई करते हुए न सिर्फ लोगों का चालान बनाया, बल्कि कॉम्प्लेक्स अगले आदेश तक बंद करवाते हुए यहां की 120 दुकानें भी सील कर दीं।

  1. भोपाल में मंगलवार को योग क्लास और जिम खोलने के लिए एडवाइजरी जारी कर दी गई है।
  2. जिला प्रशासन की एडवाइजरी में कहा गया है-जिम में फ्लोर एरिया के हिसाब से व्यक्तियों को प्रवेश दिया जाएगा। प्रति व्यक्ति चार स्क्वायर मीटर का क्षेत्र आरक्षित रहेगा। यानी जिम संचालक अपने फ्लोर एरिया को इस तरह बांटेंगे कि प्रति व्यक्ति को चार स्क्वायर मीटर का स्पेस मिले।
  3. उन्हें प्रशासन को यह जानकारी देना होगी कि उनके यहां कितना फ्लोर स्पेस है और कितने लोग एक स्लॉट में आ सकते है।
  4. अगर अधिकारियों के निरीक्षण के दौरान संख्या से अधिक लोग मिले तो जिल को अधिकतम 15 दिन के लिए जिम को बंद करवा सकते हैं।
