चीन पर लगाम कसने के लिए वह नार्थ अटलांटिक ट्रीटी ऑर्गनाइजेशन (नाटो) जैसा एक गठबंधन बना सकता है। अमेरिका के उप विदेश मंत्री स्टीफेन बिगन ने सोमवार को इसकी जानकारी दी। उन्होंने कहा कि चारों देशों की बैठक दिल्ली में होने की उम्मीद है।
उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि इस तरह का गठबंधन तभी होगा जब दूसरे देश अमेरिका के जितने ही प्रतिबद्ध होंगे। बिगन ने कहा कि मालाबार नेवल एक्सरसाइज में ऑस्ट्रेलिया का भाग लेना डिफेंस ब्लॉक बनाने की इस दिशा में एक कदम है।
नेपाल ने पिछले वित्त वर्ष भारत को 95.70 करोड़ नेपाली रुपये (करीब 60 करोड़ भारतीय रुपये) की बिजली का निर्यात किया। नेपाल विद्युत प्राधिकरण द्वारा प्रकाशित रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, दोनों देशों के बीच समझौते के तहत 2019-20 में नेपाल ने भारत को 10.70 करोड़ यूनिट बिजली का निर्यात किया। यह पड़ोसी देश को अब तक का सबसे ज्यादा बिजली निर्यात है।
बांग्लादेश का बेक्सिमको फर्मास्युटिकल्स भारत की सिरम इंस्टीट्यूट में इसी उम्मीद से निवेश कर रहा है कि वैक्सीन तैयार होते ही उसे प्राथमिकता के आधार पर वो मिल सकेगी।
ढाका में दोनों कंपनियों के बीच हुए करार के बाद कहा गया है कि दोनों ही कंपनियां चाहती हैं कि जल्दी से जल्दी इस महामारी से लड़ने की क्षमता पैदा हो और वैक्सीन लोगों तक पहुंचे।

हवाला रैकेट मामले में दिल्ली पुलिस की स्पेशल सेल ने जासूसी के आरोप में चीनी नागरिक लुओ सांग उर्फ चार्ली पेंग (39) को गिरफ्तार किया है।
आरोपी करीब सात साल से चार्ली पेंग के फर्जी नाम से भारत में रह रहा था।
आरोपी न केवल भारत में सफलतापूर्वक हवाला रैकेट चला रहा था, बल्कि जासूसी का काम भी कर रहा था।
सूत्रों का कहना है कि पूछताछ में पता चला है कि पेंग के जरिए चीनी खुफिया एजेंसियों ने दिल्ली में निर्वासित रह रहे तिब्बतियों को रिश्वत देने की कोशिश की थी। उनके निशाने पर उत्तरी दिल्ली के मजनू का टीला में रहने वाले लामा और भिक्षु थे।

गुजरात के कच्छ जिले में भारत-पाकिस्तान सीमा के पास ‘हरामी नाला’ क्रीक से रविवार को सीमा सुरक्षा बल (बीएसएफ) ने एक पाकिस्तानी मछुआरे को पकड़ा और पड़ोसी देश की चार मछली पकड़ने वाली नौकाओं को जब्त कर लिया। सुरक्षा बल ने यह जानकारी दी।
उन्होंने कहा कि पकड़े गए एक मछुआरे की पहचान पाकिस्तान के सिंध प्रांत के रहने वाले अल्ला बचाओ सिद्दीक (25) के रूप में की गई। हालांकि, अन्य भागने में सफल रहे

बयान में कहा गया, ‘बीएसएफ के गश्ती दल ने उनका पीछा किया और एक पाकिस्तानी मछुआरे को पकड़ लिया और मछली पकड़ने वाली चार पाकिस्तानी नौकाओं को जब्त कर लिया। बाकी मछुआरे इस क्षेत्र के दलदली हिस्से का फायदा उठाकर पाकिस्तानी क्षेत्र में भागने में सफल रहे।’

Bangla court indicts country’s first Hindu Chief Justice, 10 others in graft case
Key points:
The indictment comes seven months after another Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant against the former chief justice who lives in the US and was described as a “fugitive” by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in its charge-sheet.
He said six of the accused in the case were former officials of the bank while among the rest includes a reported aide of Sinha. The prosecutor said only three of the accused faced the trial in person as the rest were “on the run to evade justice”.
The ACC said it found evidence of fraud involving transactions of 40 million taka (USD 472,995) borrowed with fake documents by two businessmen from the bank in 2016. The money was deposited in Sinha’s account. Sinha now lives in the US where he is said to have sought asylum.
In his autobiography “A Broken Dream: Rule of Law, Human Rights and Democracy”, Sinha says he was forced to resign in 2017 following intimidation and threats. Sinha, Bangladesh’s first chief justice from the minority Hindu community, served as the 21st Chief Justice of Bangladesh from January, 2015 to November, 2017.
Railways transports FMCG goods to NMPT to be sent to Bangladesh

A batch of baby food manufactured by a FMCG company of NCR, unloaded at New Manglore port for onward transmission by sea to Bangladesh.
The FMCG company resorted to rail-sea routes of this method following the closure of international road borders between India and Bangladesh owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The shipment would move from Mangaluru to Colombo and then to Chittagong in this arrangement, the Railways stated.
Vikram Doraiswami appointed new Indian envoy to Bangladesh.

Senior diplomat Vikram Kumar Doraiswami has been appointed the next Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh, succeeding incumbent Riva Das Ganguly.Doraiswami, a 1992 batch officer of Indian Foreign Service and now additional secretary in the external affairs ministry, is expected to take up his new assignment soon.
He was earlier India’s ambassador to South Korea and also joint secretary of the Americas division in the external affairs ministry from 2012 till 2014. Riva Ganguly Das will return to New Delhi to be secretary (East) in the external affairs ministry after serving as high commissioner in Dhaka for little over a year.
Despite recent rough edges in bilateral ties due to the Citizenship Amendment Act passed by the Indian parliament in December last year, Bangladesh is considered one of India’s closest allies in South Asia and is often cited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a model of Neighbourly relations.

Nepal on Sunday responded to external affairs minister S Jaishankar’s remarks that Gautam Buddha was one of the two greatest Indians for people around the world by saying historical and archaeological evidence shows the founder of Buddhism was born in Nepalese territory.
A statement issued by the Nepal foreign ministry’s spokesperson said: “It is a well-established and undeniable fact proven by historical and archaeological evidences that Gautam Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal. Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha and the fountain of Buddhism, is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites.” While talking on India’s soft power, Jaishankar had described Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi as the two “greatest Indians” who are remembered by people around the world.

Indus Water Treaty meeting: India suggests video conference, Pakistan insists on talks at Attari border

India has suggested to Pakistan that the talks for discussing pending issues under the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) be held through video-conferencing in view of the coronavirus pandemic, but Islamabad has been insisting that the parleys be conducted at the Attari check post, sources said on Sunday.
On Pakistan’s request, a meeting was scheduled in last week of March to discuss pending issues under the Indus Water Treaty. However, it was deferred due to current pandemic.
Considering the fact that it may take some time for the situation to normalise and international travel to resume, the Indian Commissioner, in the first week of July, proposed to hold the meeting through video conference or any alternative means, sources said.
