“The Sangh will uplift the nation just like Manu’s fish” – Veer Savarkar

“No matter how many waves of certainty and uncertainty, views and counterviews, victory and defeat pound the bottomless ocean of Hindutva, this ocean remains just as it is. I sincerely thank Dr. Hedgewar, the pioneer of this Sangh for realizing this and infusing life into this Sangh. Just as the fish in Manu’s palm grew bigger and bigger and saved Manu’s ark during the deluge, I am certain that this organization that was started by Dr. Hedgewar on a small scale and has taken massive form today will uplift the nation…This Sangh is working on the national feeling that Hindusthan is of Hindus only. Hence it will be anyone’s desire that it gains greater and greater success in its work and that Bharat’s aspiration will bear fruit.”

  • Savarkar’s Speech at Guru Purnima Utsav, Nutan Marathi Vidyalaya, Pune, 30 July 1939 (Kesari, 1 August 1939)

A crowd of 15000 to 16000 men and women had gathered for this Utsav and some 4000 to 5000 people had to turn back due to lack of space. As it was not possible to approach the Bhagwa Dhwaj, around Rs. 250-300 Guru Dakshina could not be offered. Total Guru Dakshina Rs. 3000. [ Researched & Compiled by Dr. Shrirang Godbole, Pune ]
