I work for a software company in India.
I read the letter submitted by Dr.Angana Chatterjee to an international body such as United Nations with concern which is submitted below. My concern is her deliberate attempt to divert the whole issue into what it is not and in indulging in false propaganda to put the Hindus in poor light.
Dr.Angana writes ” history is being repeated by the Hindu fundamentalists who had earlier in 1947 killed about 250,000 Muslims in Jammu.” This is pure propaganda and uncalled for. The world knows that the partition of India took place because the Muslims under the leadership of Md.Ali Jinnah agitated for a separate homeland for the Muslims and took to methods which are similar to what the Islamic Jehadis are taking to today the world over. In fact, if we have to understand the psychology of the Jehadis and Jehadi terrorism, a reading of India’s history esp., the partition and the demand for it is a must.
Dr.Angana has also spread a canard about violence on Muslims which can be termed as ethnic cleansing she says. In the entire movement by the Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti, there have been no attacks on the Muslims in Jammu. In fact this issue has snow-balled into a controversy basically because the government chose to give in to the demands of separatists forces in Kashmir. Also, if at all there has been ethnic cleansing in J&K, it is of the Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley.
The Sangarsh Samiti is basically protesting against the government decision to revoke a two month lease that was awarded to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. This revoking was done only because the Islamic fundamentalists protested against a 2 month lease saying that it would lead to a demographic change in the Valley. This is a clear indication of the motives of the fundamentalists in Kashmir who are clear that they want Kashmir valley to have Muslims and Muslims alone. For this sake, they have booted out half million Kashmiri Pandits from the valley over the past 20 years. It is strange that the United Nations has not mentioned this as genocide of Hindus in their meetings.
Dr. Angana mentions the RSS, VHP etc., . This is basically an attempt to divert the main issue. The fundamental demand of the Sangarsh Samiti is to go by the Court Directive and re-allocate the land for the Amarnath yatra to the Board which the government has revoked. Why can’t this be done ? If the RSS, VHP who work for the welfare of Hindus in India are supporting the cause, so be it…Every person who has interest in this cause is free to support it.
The Government of India gives special treatment to Muslims and Christians by giving them Haj Subsidy, by creating special Haj houses in government land, by giving subsidy for visit to Bethelehem, but when the Hindus are demanding what is rightfully theirs, as decided even by the court..they are being treated as asking for something that is unjust.
I urge the United Nations to actually talk to the Sangharsha Samiti activists and also the millions of Kashmir refugees in India ( who are living as refugees in their own land) to get a perspective of the actual problem and not go by the words of these so-called academicians whose only job it seems is to put the Hindu in poor light.
