Subhashini Ali, a member of the CPI (M) polit bureau and former LokSabha MP, shared false information on social media by posting a manipulated image, wrongly accusing individuals in the photo of being involved in a case in Manipur where a woman was paraded naked. The individuals in the photo were actually wearing the uniform of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It appears that she shared the morphed image without verifying the details, indicating a deliberate act on her part.

The post gained significant traction, leading the accused individuals, including Ch. Chidananda Singh, the state vice president and in-charge Media & Ukrul District of BJP Manipur, to take legal action against those misusing their personal photo. They filed a case with the Manipur police, who treated the matter as a cybercrime and registered an FIR on 23 July, 2023.

This incident highlights a pattern observed in certain anti-Hindu groups, where false information is intentionally spread through social media, and apologies are later offered to avoid legal consequences. Unfortunately, even after apologies are issued, the damage caused by such misinformation persists both on the ground and in the digital realm for extended periods.
