Truth Triumphs: Telangana Police’s closure report on Rohith Vemula’s case absolves BJP leaders and former VC

The Telangana Police has concluded its investigation into the death of University of Hyderabad (UoH) PhD scholar Rohith Vemula, who tragically died by suicide in January 2016.

The police have absolved the then Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya, Member of Legislative Council N Ramachander Rao, Vice Chancellor Appa Rao, ABVP leaders, and Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani of any wrongdoing in the case.

According to the closure report, which was presented in the Telangana High Court on Friday, May 3, Rohith’s death was speculated to be due to his fear of his “real caste identity” being discovered, rather than any external influence.

The report also says that Rohith did not belong to the Scheduled Caste category and suggests that his family’s caste certificates were forged.

Interestingly, the release of the report comes four months after the Congress government assumed power in Telangana.

The closure report said that there is no evidence to suggest that anyone else was responsible for his suicide.

According to the report, Rohith was aware that he did not belong to the Scheduled Caste and that his mother obtained the SC certificate for him, which could have been a constant source of fear for him, as it could lead to the loss of academic degrees and potential legal consequences.

The saying goes that truth cannot be forever hidden, yet lies often seem to cling on with surprising tenacity. This clash between truth and falsehood has played out across human history, a constant struggle where both sides refuse to yield. The ultimate fate of truth remains a question mark, leaving us to ponder what truly has lasting power.

But even in the face of relentless lies, truth has a remarkable resilience.  Imagine a coin, with truth on one side and falsehood on the other. They are forever linked, their very existence dependent on the other.  However, a clear victor emerges: truth, time and again, prevails over the vehement protests of falsehoods.

History stands as a testament to this narrative, with truth repeatedly rising from the ashes, while lies eventually fade into obscurity. This recent case serves as another chapter in this ongoing story, a powerful illustration of truth’s enduring strength.
