Key points:
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, acronymed ”STEM”, have been included in the policy to make it a multidisciplinary education.
- Speaking at the ”Governors” virtual conference on the ”Role of NEP in Transforming Higher Education”, Mishra suggested that agriculture and computer be included in the policy, making it ”STEAM-C”, which will make higher education more employment oriented, according to a release.
- Mishra said if the states are able to implement the policy in a successful manner, the new education system will bring India at par with the leading countries of the world and convert the challenges of the present into opportunities.

- President Ramnath Kovind asks states to organise virtual sessions to implement NEP
Key points:
- President Ram Nath Kovind while addressing the conference said the New Education Policy gives top priority to provide basic literacy and numeracy to all children at primary school level by the year 2025.
- He said, the Policy has been formulated after an unprecedented and lengthy process of consultations including over two lakh suggestions received from about 675 districts.
- The President asked Governors to organise theme-based virtual sessions in their States to implement the New National Education Policy.
- He said the feedback from these sessions can be sent to the Education Ministry for further considerations and utilisation at National level.
- Mr. Kovind urged States and Union Territories to fill the vacant seats of Vice Chancellors and Teachers for effective implementation of the new policy at higher education level.

- Ram temple construction committee chairman Nripendra Mishra’s visit to Ayodhya begins today

- Nripendra Misra, the chairman of Ram Mandir construction committee, will visit Ayodhya on Monday to review preparations for the construction of the shrine.
- Misra along with the members of the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust will inspect the Ram Janmabhoomi campus and will meet engineers of the Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the construction company that has been awarded the contract of the project.
- During his two-day visit, Misra will also discuss the temple’s layout plan with architects Nikhil Sompura and Ashish Sompura – the sons of Chandrakant Sompura, the main architect of the Ram Mandir. The Sompuras are expected to reach Ayodhya from Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

- J&K UT Govt evacuates about 4,06,528 residents stranded in other parts of country
Key points:
- AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that the UT administration has received 138 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs with 1,21,496 passengers while about 2,85,032 persons from other states and UTs including 934 from abroad have been evacuated through Lakhanpur via road till date.
- Besides, about 2364 stranded passengers have entered the UT through Lakhanpur during the last 24 hours while 1053 passengers reached Jammu today in 117th Delhi COVID special train.
- So far, 117 trains reached Jammu with 1,05,800 stranded passengers while 15,696 passengers reached Udhampur in 21 special trains belonging to different districts of the UT.

- साथ ही कोविड के मामलों और इसके कारण होने वाली मौतों की बढ़ती संख्या के मद्देनजर पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री कैप्टन अमरिन्दर सिंह ने सोमवार को 60 वर्ष से कम आयु के सभी रिटायर्ड हो रहे डॉक्टरों और माहिरों को तीन महीने का विस्तार देने का ऐलान किया है।
- मुख्यमंत्री कैप्टन अमरिन्दर सिंह ने मुख्य सचिव को कोविड के मामलों की बढ़ रही संख्या को देखते हुए टेक्नीशियनों और लैब सहायकों की भर्ती की प्रक्रिया तेज करने के लिए भी कहा।

- Punjab govt to give 50,000 COVID care kits to patients

- Punjab CM on Monday said his government will give 50,000 COVID care kits free of cost to patients in hospitals and home isolation to ensure their better treatment.
- At kit, costing Rs 1,700 each, includes an oximeter, digital thermometer, face masks and necessary medication.
- A spokesperson said the specially designed kits will also include a steamer, hand sanitiser besides 60 ‘giloy’ tablets, thirty Vitamin C and four Vitamin D3 tablets.

- रेडलाइन पर सभी स्टेशनों के आधे गेट बंद हैं, केवल दो गेट से ही प्रवेश और निकासी की व्यवस्था की गई है।
- ट्रेन में यात्रा के लिए एक सीट छोड़कर बैठने की व्यवस्था की गई है।
- यात्रा के समय यात्री को मास्क पहनना अनिवार्य है, मास्क पहनकर नहीं आने पर मेट्रो स्टेशन पर शुल्क देकर यात्री को पहले मास्क खरीदना होगा, फिर उसे एंट्री मिलेगी।

- Ahmedabad metro train service resumes

- To ensure social distancing, a maximum of 90 passengers are being allowed to travel per trip between Vastral and Apparel Market stations, a stretch of 6.5 kms that was made operational in March last year, officials said.

- Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Durga Shankar Mishra said that passengers will have to follow preventive measures against COVID-19 by maintaining social distancing and wearing face mask.
- AIR correspondent reports that in the first stage, Delhi Metro resumed services in a graded manner today, with elaborate measures for crowd management ensuring hygiene to check the spread of COVID-19.

- In a bid to contain the further spread of COVID-19, the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government has decided to impose total shutdown in containment zones till September 30.
- The state government will abide by the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for ‘unlock 4’.
- Last week, the Centre had issued guidelines for the fourth phase of ‘unlock’, allowing more activities outside the containment zones.

- MP govt to add 3600 oxygen beds, 564 ICU beds added for Coronavirus treatment till Oct 31

- This will increase such beds to 11 thousand 710 and 2 thousand 488 respectively.
- It was also decided that patients can voluntarily pay bills, fully or partially, at designated hospitals which are treating free of cost at the moment.
- Mr. Sarang informed that command control centres with ambulances and doctors were being established in every district to monitor the health of 40 percent of the patients living in home isolation in Madhya Pradesh.
