  • India-Angola Hold First Joint Commission Meeting, Reaffirm Commitment To Strengthen Bilateral Ties

  1. The Indian side offered to share its expertise to support the Angolan Government’s economic diversification plans through capacity building, infrastructure development in key areas, a joint press communique after India-Angola first joint Commission meeting said on Tuesday.
  2. The Angola-India Joint Commission held its first session on September 7 through video-conferencing.
    The session was co-chaired by the External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and the Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Angola, Ambassador Tete Antonio.
  3. “The two Ministers satisfactorily acknowledged the excellent bilateral cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties based on the principles and values of democracy,” the joint press communique said.

  • विदेश मंत्री जयशंकर एससीओ बैठक में शामिल होने मास्को पहुंचे, चीनी समकक्ष से हो सकती है बातचीत

  1. भारत-चीन के बीच सीमा पर चल रहे तनाव के बीच विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर मंगलवार को मास्को पहुंचे। वे अपने चार दिन के दौरे के दौरान यहां शंघाई सहयोग संगठन (एससीओ) के विदेश मंत्रियों की बैठक में शामिल होंगे। उनका यह दौरा रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह के रूस की राजधानी की यात्रा करने के महज कुछ ही दिनों बाद हो रहा है। सिंह, आठ सदस्यीय एससीओ के रक्षा मंत्रियों की बैठक में शामिल होने के लिए यहां आए थे। 
  2. जयशंकर मास्को में ठहरने के दौरान एससीओ के विदेश मंत्रियों की परिषद (सीएफएम) की बैठक में शामिल होंगे। यह परिषद की तीसरी बैठक होगी जिसमें भारत पूर्ण सदस्य के तौर पर सम्मिलित होगा।

  1. भगोड़े हीरा कारोबारी नीरव मोदी के भारत प्रत्यर्पण के लिए दायर मुकदमे के दूसरे चरण की सुनवाई लंदन की वेंटमिंस्टर अदालत में सोमवार को शुरू हो गई। सुनवाई का यह चरण पांच दिन तक चलेगा। दक्षिण लंदन में स्थित वांड्सवर्थ जेल में कैद मोदी वीडियो लिंक के माध्यम से पेश हुआ। सुनवाई के दौरान प्रवर्तन निदेशालय का दल भी अदालत में मौजूद रहा।
  2. मामले की सुनवाई शुरू होते ही नीरव मोदी के वकील ने जज से प्रेस (मीडिया) के सदस्यों को कार्यवाही से दूर रखने का अनुरोध किया। न्यायाधीश ने प्रेस के सदस्यों से पूछा कि क्या वे इस पर सहमत हैं। प्रेस के सदस्यों से राय लेने के बाद न्यायाधीश ने नीरव मोदी के वकील के इस अनुरोध को खारिज कर दिया।

  1. फ्रांस की रक्षा मंत्री फ्लोरेंस पार्ली 10 सितंबर को भारत पहुंचेंगी। वो अंबाला एयर फोर्स बेस पर होने वाली राफेल जेट्स इंडक्शन सेरेमनी में शामिल होंगी। फ्लोरेंस रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह और राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार अजीत डोभाल से भी मुलाकात करेंगी। पार्ली के साथ फ्रांस के रक्षा अधिकारी और डिफेंस इंडस्ट्री का डेलिगेशन भी भारत आएगा।

    • Amid fresh row on LAC, India-China foreign ministers set to meet in Russia.

  1. A fresh face-off between Indian and Chinese troops has added to the complexities of the situation on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) ahead of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries that is being seen as crucial for a breakthrough in the impasse on the disputed border.
  2. Hours before external affairs minister S Jaishankar departed for Moscow, where he is set to meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the margins of a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, Chinese troops attempted to close in on an Indian position along the LAC on Monday night and fired in the air when they were dissuaded.
  3. The face-off, experts said, underlined the fragile situation along the LAC, especially after several incidents on the south bank of Pangong Lake during August 29-30. This is the first time that shots have been fired along the undemarcated border since 1975, when four Indian troopers were killed in a Chinese ambush in the Arunachal Pradesh sector.

  1. China’s PLA confirms 5 missing civilians from Arunachal Pradesh ‘found by their side’: Union minister Kiren Rijiju.

  1. Union minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday said that China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has confirmed that five civilians who went missing from Arunachal Pradesh last week have been found on their side. The process of handing over the youth to India is being worked out, the minister added.
  2. The five civilians frp, Tagin tribe, who had gone missing on Friday from the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, were working as porters and guides for the Indian Army. They were a part seven-member group but went missing reportedly from Sera-7 on the Indian side of the McMohan line bifurcating Arunachal Pradesh and Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

The Indian Army on Tuesday said Chinese troops fired their weapons into the air on September 7 to intimidate its soldiers holding dominating heights near a strategic mountain pass in eastern Ladakh, during a failed attempt to close in on a forward position controlled by India, with bullets flying at the contested Line of Actual Control (LAC) for the first time in 45 years.
  2. Soldiers from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) attempted to advance on the Mukhpari peak near Rezang La on Monday evening but they stopped in their tracks after a stern warning from the Indian Army that occupied key heights on the southern bank of Pangong Tso to prevent the PLA from grabbing Indian territory in a stealthy midnight move on August 29, officials familiar with the developments said on Tuesday, requesting anonymity.

Barely a week after PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds (PUBG), an online multiplayer gaming application (app) developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Blue hole, was banned by the Union Ministry of Information and Technology, the firm has pulled its India franchise from Chinese conglomerate Tencent.
  2. “In light of recent developments, PUBG Corporation has made the decision to no longer authorize the PUBG Mobile franchise to Tencent Games in India. Moving forward, PUBG Corporation will take on all publishing responsibilities within the country,” PUBG said in a statement.

  1. Acting on a request from Bahrain, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case to “locally prosecute” an Indian national who allegedly embezzled funds worth 50,000 Bahraini Dinar or BD in the middle-eastern country, official’s familiar with the development said.
  2. Rajeev Ranganathan Udayanandan, a native of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, while working in one Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Roomi Contracting Establishment between January and February 2016, allegedly embezzled the cash amounts of the company which were in his possession by virtue of his position, according to the FIR registered by the agency.
