- NEP 2020: University Of Delhi Forms NEP Implementation Committee

- The introduction of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) by Central Government and has brought its recommendation to implement NEP across the country, the University of Delhi has constituted the NEP Implementation Committee (NIC) for smooth execution of the National Education Policy 2020.
- NEP Implementation Committee has been formed to suggest how best can the NEP 2020 be implemented in the Delhi University.

- राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति को लागू कराने में जुटी केंद्र सरकार को राज्यों का भी पूरा साथ मिल रहा है। अब तक करीब 20 राज्य और केंद्र शासित क्षेत्रों ने नीति पर अपनी सहमति जताते हुए इसके अमल पर भी काम शुरु कर दिया है। इनमें ज्यादातर राज्य एनडीए या भाजपा शासित है। बावजूद इसके बाकी के राज्यों का भी रुख भी कुछ बिंदुओं को छोड़कर नीति के पक्ष में ही है।
- राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति आने के बाद देश में उसके अमल को लेकर जिस तरह से माहौल बना है और राज्यों का साथ भी मिल रहा है, उससे शिक्षा मंत्रालय भी भारी उत्साहित है। मंत्रालय के मुताबिक सभी राज्यों को अमल को लेकर तैयार किया गया ड्राफ्ट भेजा गया है। इसमें यह बताया गया है कि राज्यों को नीति के अमल को लेकर आगे कैसे बढ़ना है। ज्यादातर राज्यों ने इस पर काम भी शुरु कर दिया है।
- मंत्रालय से जुड़े अधिकारियों की मानें तो नीति के अगले चरण में उन सभी राज्यों से बात की जाएगी, जो कुछ बिंदुओं को छोड़कर नीति के पक्ष में तो है, लेकिन वह इसे कब लागू करेंगे, इसे लेकर अब तक अनिश्चितता में है। वैसे भी शिक्षा राज्य का विषय है। इसलिए मंत्रालय जल्द ही इसे लेकर राज्यों से बात करेगा और उन्हें इसे लागू करने को लेकर सहमत करेगा।
- पश्चिम बंगाल, ओडिशा, छत्तीसगढ़, पंजाब, दिल्ली जैसे राज्यों ने कोई फैसला नहीं लिया
- उत्तर प्रदेश, उत्तराखंड, हिमाचल प्रदेश, हरियाणा, कर्नाटक, त्रिपुरा, जम्मू-कश्मीर, असम, सिक्किम, मेघालय, मणिपुर, अरुणाचल प्रदेश, नगालैंड, गुजरात, गोवा, मध्य प्रदेश और बिहार जैसे राज्य शामिल है। वहीं केंद्र शासित क्षेत्रों में चंडीगढ़, लद्दाख, अंडमान निकोबार आदि शामिल है।

- President Gives Assent To J&K Official Languages Bill
Key points:
- A new law that provides for inclusion of Kashmiri, Dogri and Hindi in the list of official languages in Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to Urdu and English, has been notified after President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent.
- The Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Act, 2020, received assent of the President on September 26, according to a gazette notification.

- No strong push for public schooling in India, says Amartya Sen on NEP
Key points:
- “India stands out as a country in which the ratio of private schooling is much higher than in most countries… This high ratio is not only bad for equity, it is bad for incentive in a way that is seen as a favour instead of a right to be claimed by all citizens… The issue of efficiency (of education) and that of public and private schooling are closely related. That point was well understood by any country that was ambitious about progressing — Europe in the 18th Century, Japan during the Meiji Restoration, Korea, Taiwan and later on, China… the need for a network of public schools covering the entire population,” Amartya Sen said, underlining that inequality in society not getting reflected in the efficiency of education is a critical issue.
- The NEP avoids this particular problem by pretending it doesn’t exist… The children left behind in government schools are the ones who are from disadvantaged backgrounds… Among those in private schools, 50% children are being sent to schools which charge less than Rs 500 per month… It is difficult to imagine the limited facilities and quality of teaching in these schools… There are only ten countries in the world where there is a higher proportion of children studying in private schools… The NEP is silent on this subject,” Amartya Sen said.
