1. सूत्रों के अनुसार, ‘कोवैक्सीन’ टीका के दूसरे चरण का परीक्षण चल रहा है और कुछ स्थानों पर स्वयंसेवियों को दूसरी खुराक अभी नहीं दी गई है। एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि कंपनी ने पहले और दूसरे चरण के ट्रायल के अंतरिम आंकड़ों के साथ तीसरे चरण के परीक्षण के लिए ‘प्रोटोकॉल’ पेश किया। केंद्रीय औषधि मानक नियंत्रण संगठन (CDSCO) की विशेषज्ञ समिति (SECS) ने पांच अक्टूबर को आवेदन पर विचार-विमर्श किया। समिति ने विस्तृत विचार-विमर्श के बाद कहा कि तीसरे चरण के अध्ययन का डिजाइन सिद्धांत रूप में संतोषजनक है, सिवाय बिना लक्षण वाले की परिभाषा पर स्पष्टीकरण के।

  • सरकार ने दी चुनिंदा प्याज के निर्यात की इजाजत, अगले वर्ष 31 मार्च तक के लिए है अनुमति

Key points:

1. सरकार  ने प्याज के निर्यात पर पिछले महीने लगाई गई पाबंदी में ढील देते हुए बंगलोर रोज और कृष्णापुरम किस्म के प्याज के निर्यात की अनुमति दे दी है। हालांकि, इस छूट के साथ निर्यात के लिए कुछ शर्तें भी जोड़ी गई हैं। विदेश व्यापार महानिदेशालय (डीजीएफटी) ने एक अधिसूचना में शुक्रवार को कहा कि बंगलोर रोज और कृष्णापुरम प्याज की 10,000 टन मात्रा के निर्यात की इजाजत दी जा रही है।
2. यह इजाजत तत्काल प्रभाव से अगले वर्ष 31 मार्च तक के लिए वैध रहेगी। इसके अलावा एक शर्त यह भी है कि निर्यात सिर्फ चेन्नई बंदरगाह से किया जाएगा।
3. सरकार ने 14 सितंबर को प्याज के निर्यात पर पाबंदी लगा दी थी, ताकि घरेलू बाजार में इसकी आपूर्ति बढ़ाई जा सके और दरों में तेज उछाल पर लगाम लगाई जाए। कर्नाटक के किसानों ने सरकार से 10,000 टन बंगलोर रोज किस्म के प्याज के निर्यात की छूट दिए जाने की अपील की थी, क्योंकि घरेलू बाजार में इस प्याज की मांग नहीं है।
4. इसकी मांग मलेशिया, सिंगापुर, ताइवान और थाइलैंड जैसे एशियाई देशों में ज्यादा है। बंगलोर रोज प्याज के निर्यातकों को कर्नाटक सरकार के बागवानी आयुक्त से वस्तु और उसकी मात्रा का प्रमाणपत्र लेना होगा। इसी प्रकार कृष्णापुरम प्याज के निर्यातकों को यह प्रमाणपत्र आंध्र प्रदेश की सरकार देगी। (Amar Ujala, 9 October 2020) News Link

1. केरल के अरनमुला के रहने वाले 72 वर्षीय एन.के. कृष्णन नायर अपने खेतों से हर दिन लगभग 15-20 किलो गेंदे का फूल तोड़ते हैं। इन फूलों को बेचकर वह हर महीने करीब 35,000 रुपए कमा लेते हैं।
2. बेंगलुरु के पास होसुर के अपने दोस्तों से संपर्क कर कृष्णन नायर ने उनसे गेंदे के लगभग 1,000 पौधे लिए। उन्होंने उनसे खेती के बारे में सलाह और जानकारी भी इकट्ठा की।

• Kerala Man’s New Jackfruit Flour Helps Control Diabetes, Bags National Award

Key points:

1. Jackfruit is now clinically proven to reduce blood sugar levels and help reverse diabetes. According to a study published by the American Diabetes Association, it brings down glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c), fasting blood glucose (FBG), and postprandial glucose (PPG).
2. The conclusion of the study is based on a randomized, double-blind design where 20 of the 40 participants with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) were given 30 grams of green flour made from jackfruit for three months. The rest used regular wheat or rice flour to make rotis or idlis.
3. At the end of the study, that was approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), it was found that people who mixed flour in their idli batter or wheat dough showed improvement in their plasma glucose levels.
4. James Joseph, the founder of Jackfruit 365, a company that sells the fruit in a freeze-dried form, is the brain behind this new study. His 8-year-old company sells frozen jackfruit, which has a better shelf life and goes back to its original form if soaked in lukewarm water.
5. The 49-year-old recently received a National Startup India award, for ‘Food’ in the category ‘Food Processing’ for his new product – a green jackfruit flour.
