1. बेकार बर्तनों से लेकर पुरानी जींस को बनाया गमला, छत पर 150+ पौधों की करतीं हैं खेती

1. गुड़गाँव में रहने वाली अनामिका ने बागवानी की शुरुआत 3 साल पहले की थी। लेकिन, पहली बार में अधिकांश पौधे सूख गए। इसके बाद उन्होंने यूट्यूब से जानकारी हासिल कर, फिर से पहल शुरू की। आज वह अपने घर में बेकार बर्तनों से लेकर पुराने जींस तक में, 150+ पौधों की टेरेस गार्डनिंग करती हैं।
2. आज देश के अधिकांश शहरों में रहने वाले लोग प्रदूषण की समस्या से जूझ रहे हैं। इसकी एक बड़ी वजह पेड़-पौधों की अंधाधुंध कटाई भी है। हम सब हरियाली से दूर होते जा रहे हैं। ऐसी स्थिति में हम सभी का दायित्व बनता है कि घर में छोटे से छोटे स्तर पर भी बागवानी करें। आज हम आपको गुड़गाँव एक ऐसी ही महिला से मुलाकात करवाने जा रहे हैं जिन्होंने अपनी छत को गार्डन का रूप दे दिया है।
3. एक प्राइवेट स्कूल में शिक्षिका रहीं अनामिका को बचपन से ही बागवानी का शौक था, लेकिन पहले वह जहाँ रहती थीं, वहाँ बागवानी के लिए पर्याप्त जगह नहीं थी। लेकिन, 3 साल पहले जैसे ही वह गुड़गाँव स्थित अपने नए घर में रहने के लिए गईं, उन्होंने बागवानी शुरू कर दी।
4. वह आगे बताती हैं, “हमारे आस-पास की मिट्टी बागवानी के लिए उपयुक्त नहीं है, इस वजह से शुरूआती दिनों में मेरे पौधे सूख गए। बाद में, मैंने बाजार से वर्मी कम्पोस्ट खरीद कर इसे मिट्टी में मिलाया। इसके साथ ही मैं बागवानी में किचन वेस्ट का भी इस्तेमाल करने लगी। नतीजन, मिट्टी की उर्वरा शक्ति में काफी बढ़ोत्तरी हुई। फिर, धीरे-धीरे मैंने अपने बगीचे में पौधों को बढ़ाना शुरू किया। आज मेरे पास आम, अनार, नींबू, इमली, लेमनग्रास, पीपल जैसे कई पौधे हैं। इसके साथ ही, मैं अपने बगीचे में लौकी, करेला, खरबूजा जैसे कई सब्जियों की भी जैविक खेती करती हूँ। इससे मेरी बाजार पर निर्भरता थोड़ी कम हो गई है।”

1. राजस्थान के बीकानेर में रहने वाले लक्ष्मण मोदी पिछले कई वर्षों से समाज सेवा से जुड़े हुए हैं। ज़रुरतमंद बच्चों की शिक्षा से लेकर पर्यावरण और जीव-जंतुओं के प्रति वह काफी सजग हैं। इन दिनों वह एक व्हीलचेयर को लेकर सुर्खियों में हैं, जिसे उन्होंने खासतौर पर एक कुत्ते के लिए बनाया है।
2. पर्यावरण और जीव-जंतु प्रेमी लक्ष्मण ने हाल ही में एक दिव्यांग कुत्ते के लिए सस्ती और आरामदायक व्हीलचेयर बनायी है जिससे यह कुत्ता कहीं भी आ-जा सकता है।
3. लक्ष्मण ने द बेटर इंडिया को बताया, “जिस स्ट्रीट डॉग के लिए मैंने यह व्हील चेयर बनाया है, कुछ समय पहले वह दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया था। मैं उसे तुरंत शहर के पशु अस्पताल लेकर गया। वहाँ उसकी जान तो बच गई लेकिन उसके पिछले दोनों पैर खराब हो गए।”
4. पीवीसी पाइप का बिज़नेस करने वाले लक्ष्मण हमेशा से ही स्ट्रीट डॉग्स के प्रति काफी संवेदनशील रहे हैं। उन्हें जब भी गली-मोहल्ले में कोई बेसहारा पशु दिखता है तो वह तुरंत उसकी मदद करते हैं। कई बार बीमार होने पर उन्होंने जानवरों को अस्पताल पहुँचाया है और कई स्ट्रीट डॉग्स को उनके घर में भी पनाह मिली है।
5. लक्ष्मण ने 6 फीट पीवीसी पाइप, चार एल्बो, 4 टी, 2 एंड कैप और बच्चों की साइकिल के पहिए लिए। उन्होंने 2-3 प्रयासों में अपने कुत्ते के लिए व्हीलचेयर बनाकर तैयार की। इस दौरान उन्होंने पशु अस्पताल के डॉक्टरों से भी बात की। यह व्हीलचेयर वजन में बहुत ही हल्का है और इसलिए स्ट्रीट डॉग को कोई परेशानी नहीं होती है।

1. Meet the octogenarian doctor, selflessly treating patients in rural Maharashtra

1. For the last 60 years, 87-year-old homeopath, Ramchandra Dandekar has been travelling to the most remote villages to provide medical assistance and healthcare.

• Meet Kumari Shibulal, who is helping thousands of underprivileged children across India realise their dreams

1. Founded in 1999, Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives’ flagship programme Vidyadhan has enabled more than 17,000 students to uplift their family members from poverty.
2. Manoj Kumar KV is an MBBS graduate and one among the frontline workers of COVID-19, interning as a doctor at the Gadag District hospital in Karnataka. He was raised by his mother who worked as an agricultural labourer after he lost his father in an accident.  His determination to become a doctor was steadfast since he was a young boy. At 14, Manoj survived a life-threatening health condition that further fuelled his resolve. However, it would have been difficult to realise his dream without the support from Vidyadhan, a scholarship programme for higher studies from the Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives.  He is among 30,000 applicants in need of funds for higher studies from which 1,000 get selected.
3. The idea, she says, is to help children from underprivileged backgrounds pursue a holistic education that will enable them to help their communities as well. The philanthropic organisation also initiated Ankur, a student residential scholarship at Samhita Academy, a CBSE-affiliated school with campuses in Bengaluru and Coimbatore.

1. Delhi-based startup Ziptrax Cleantech leverages AI to repurpose discarded Li-ion batteries and manufactures battery packs for electric two and three-wheeler vehicles.
2. “If you talk about parameters such as waves, energy, density, or size, Li-ion batteries are much better than lead-acid ones. However, lead-acid batteries will continue to have a substantial market share because of their price,” says Rohan Singh, Co-founder of Ziptrax Cleantech — an electric cell repurposing startup.
3. For this reason, Ziptrax Cleantech leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to repurpose discarded Li-ion batteries. as well as manufactures battery packs for electric two and three-wheeler vehicles.
